Prof. Ekanem Ekanem is a Professor of Theoretical and Applied Climatology with a Ph.D. in Climatology, University of Ibadan, Ibadan and Master of Science in Climatology from University of Ilorin, Ilorin. He is a seasoned climatologist with a distinguished career in both academia and research.
At Present he lectures at University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State where he conducts advanced researches and has been at the forefront of climatology research, with a focus on Agricultural Climatology and Meteorology, Synoptic and Dynamic Climatology, Urban Climatology and Meteorology, ans Applied Climatology
Indepth research climatology has resulted in publications in peer-reviewed articles in leading climatology journals, co-author of several chapters in books on climate science and environmental studies.
Has was the Principal Investigator on United States Climate Change Sciences Programme (USCCSP) Grant through Global Change System for Analysis, Research and Training (START) for Research into Societal Pressure on Groundwater Resource in Southeastern Nigeria in. 2004
Prof. Ekanem actively collaborates with researchers and institutions globally to contribute to the international discourse on climate science. This includes joint research projects, collaborative publications, and participation in international conferences.
He holds Professional Memberships in 16 professional bodies including Nigerian Geographical Association (NGA), Member, Nigerian Society for Biological Conservation (NSBC) etc.
As an educator, Prof Ekanemm is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of climatologists. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical applications, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. He has successfully supervised numerous graduate students in their research projects, many of whom have gone on to make significant contributions to the field of climatology.
Beyond academia, Prof is actively involved in public outreach initiatives aimed at raising awareness about climate change and its impacts. This includes public lectures, media appearances, and collaborations with local environmental organizations.
